A Brief History

From 2003 to Present

On November 20th, 2003, the Rev. Dr. Charles Warner, then an Anglican Lay Reader, purposed the establishment of an Anglo-Catholic presence on Cape Breton Island and on December 23rd of the same year, the Right Reverend Robert W. S. Mercer CCR, Diocesan Bishop of the Anglican Catholic Church of Canada accepted his offer. After meeting in Sydney with Bishop Mercer and Fr. Craig Botterill QC,
on June 18th and 19th 2004, plans were begun to establish a Mission.

After a year of preparation and the completion of Fr. Warner's Graduate degree, Mission of the Holy Cross held its first service on Thursday, June 30th, 2005; according to the Book of Common Prayer with Fr. Warner as it's Lay Reader-in-Charge.

Parish of the Holy Cross was registered as a charitable organization with Canada Revenue Agency on November 23rd 2005 and just under four months later, on March 15th, 2006, Parish of the Holy Cross Anglican Catholic Church, now Morley Road Ministries,
was incorporated under the Societies Act in the Province of Nova Scotia.

On Saturday, April 8th 2006, Fr. Charles Warner was ordained to the Diaconate at the Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Ottawa Ontario by the Right Reverend Peter D. Wilkinson, OSG, Bishop and Metropolitan of the Anglican Catholic Church of Canada. On Easter Sunday, April 16th 2006, Holy Cross was formally established as a Parish within the Anglican Catholic Church of Canada.

Fr. Warner was ordained to the Priesthood on Sunday, July 8th, 2007 at the Pro-Cathedral of Saint Aidan in Halifax, Nova Scotia by the Right Reverend Craig Botterill QC, Suffragan Bishop of the Anglican Catholic Church of Canada;
thereby becoming Rector of Parish of the Holy Cross.

On April 11th, 2014, Parish of the Holy Cross then came under the jurisdiction of the Anglican Catholic Church (Original Province) and became a member of the Traditional Anglican Church of Canada. Then, after a little over six years, on June 11th, 2020,
Parish of the Holy Cross departed the Anglican Catholic Church (Original Province) and the Traditional Anglican Church of Canada.

On November 20th, 2020, the seventeenth anniversary of its establishment, Parish of the Holy Cross transitioned itself into
Morley Road Ministries, a "teaching ministry.Morley Road Ministries became legally incorporated in the Province of Nova Scotia.
Under the umbrella of Morley Road Ministries, Holy Cross remains and functions as a Traditional Anglican mission called
Mission of the Holy Cross. It will humbly serve the people of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality.

On July 30th, 2021, Morley Road Ministries came under the Episcopal oversight of the Right Rev. Craig Botterill, QC, Bishop Ordinary
of Canada East, Anglican Catholic Church of Canada, who then received the Rev. Dr. Charles Warner back into the Church and licensed him
to serve as Priest-in-Charge of Morley Road Ministries within the Diocese of Canada East.

WE receive this Child into the Congregation of Christ’s flock, and do *sign him with the sign of the Cross, in token that hereafter he shall not be ashamed to confess the faith of Christ crucified, and manfully to fight under his banner against sin, the world, and the devil, and to continue Christ’s faithful soldier and servant unto his life’s end. Amen.
